Imagination 01:31
Playing with a box of dress-up clothes, Making up plays and putting on shows. Time to dance, time to sing. You can be anything you want: REFRAIN With imagination. Just use your imagination. Tapping out a beat on pots and pans, Shaking some rice in an old tin can. Play a tune, make it ring. You can play anything you want: (Repeat REFRAIN) Playing with some odds and ends of wood, Building up a town that looks real good. Pound some nails, tie some string. You can make anything you want: (Repeat REFRAIN) Playing in a pile of good clean sand, A spoon and a bucket in your hand. Build a castle, crown a king. You can do anything you want: (Repeat REFRAIN)

Come gather ‘round and hear the tale of a man from Boston town. He was born in 1775 and they named him Jonathan. Now John was gentle, John was kind. He always lent a hand. He loved the people, loved the beasts, and he loved this lovely land. REFRAIN Oh, Johnny Appleseed, Johnny Appleseed! Oh, Johnny Appleseed, Johnny Appleseed! Oh, Johnny gathered apple seeds from apple cider pressed. The Pennsylvania Indian trails he followed to the west. His heavy leather sack of seeds he carried on his way. And at each pretty place he saw, he’d plant trees every day. Oh, Johnny’s hair was long and dark, his whiskers never shaved. His eyes were black and sparkled bright. He was small and lean and brave. An old tin pan was Johnny’s hat, a coffee sack his shirt. His feet were bare in sun and snow, but it never seemed to hurt. The bears and wolves and deer and birds were loved by John as friends. And even insects, plants, and trees he lovingly would tend. At Indian tent and homestead cabin, John was loved by all. The children gathered ‘round to hear the stories he’d recall. Through many seasons, many years, John rambled in our land. And everywhere he planted trees, now apple orchards stand. We love the apples Johnny gave us with his gentle deed. But we love him most of all because he was Johnny Appleseed.

Paul Bunyan 02:38
PAUL BUNYAN In the early logging days of Wisconsin, When the northern stand of big white pine stood tall. From the southern Great Lakes region of Ontario Came that legendary lumberjack named Paul. REFRAIN: Paul Bunyan! Paul Bunyan! Timber man of great northwestern fame. Paul Bunyan! Paul Bunyan! Big Paul Bunyan was his name. In his stockings, he stood twelve foot eleven. He was eight hundred eighty pounds of lumberjack. Combed his big black burly beard with a buck saw. He was the strongest man that ever swung an axe. (REFRAIN) For his breakfast, he ate six hundred pancakes, Seven hams, twelve dozen eggs all piping hot, Thirty seven pounds of beef and one whole venison, Fried potatoes, bread, and coffee by the pot. (REFRAIN) Big Paul’s spirit led the men who cleared Wisconsin, Sailed the logs on down the river to the mill, Sawed the lumber for our homes and opened farmlands. His legend lives on in our hearts and always will. (REFRAIN)

Recycle that paper, put it in the bin. Recycle that paper, make it new again. Recycle that paper, help the earth stay clean. Keep the blue sky blue and the green grass green. (What other things can we recycle?)
5.
Goin' fishin', So I gotta dig me some worms, Look at 'em squirm! Ol' cane pole with a hook, line, and sinker, Big, red bobber, bob-bobbin' around, Pulled up and down. Well, now, I love fishin', So I gotta tie me some flies, Try 'em for size. Big, fat bass'll bite sooner or later. Fancy finding you here on a walk. I'd stop and talk, But I'm goin' fishin', So I gotta dig me some worms. Look at 'em squirm!
6.
Mister Flea 01:29
I'll tell you all a story 'bout the rider, Mister Flea. He had the toughest kind of luck you'd ever want to see. REFRAIN: "Oh my, oh me," Said Mister Flea. He tried to ride a pony, but the pony was too quick. It turned around and swished its tail and gave the flea a flick. He tried to ride a turtle, but the turtle was too slow. It pulled itself inside its shell, and just refused to go. He tried to ride a rabbit, but the rabbit was too fast, It hopped into the forest and it lost the flea at last. He tried to ride a sparrow, but the sparrow flew too high. It turned its head and pecked him, and it dropped him from the sky.
7.
There was a little mouse and he had a little house, And he lived next door to me. And this funny little mouse, with his funny little house, Was as happy as can be. Ah, oh! Ah, me! What a sight he was to see! And this funny little mouse, with his funny little house, Was as happy as can be. 2. There was a little cat and he had a little hat. 3. There was a little goat and he had a little coat. 4. There was a little ant and he had some little pants. 5. There was a little owl and he had a little towel.
8.
REFRAIN: I've got 7 holes in my head, 7 holes in my head. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, I'm just glad there's not 11. I've got 7 holes in my head. Surprise, surprise, I've got 2 eyes, They're good for me, Through them I see. And you have noticed, I suppose, 2 nostrils in my nose. They're strange, but I don't care, 'Cause they help me sniff my air. (Repeat REFRAIN) Now further south, I have a mouth To talk and chew And sing for you. And on the sides, here and here, I have an ear and an ear. So let's give a little cheer For our ears that make us hear. (Repeat REFRAIN)
9.
It's Music 01:58
In the trees, the birds chirp a song, To greet and welcome the day. In the breeze, leaves whisper along, And when we hear them we say. REFRAIN: It's music floating in the air and it's everywhere. And it's music; it's music. In the flowers, the bees buzz a tune, So busy all morning through. Hour by hour and all afternoon, The grasshoppers fiddle there, too. (Repeat REFRAIN) By the stream, a frog symphony Will serenade through the night. And it seems, for you and for me, The crickets "crick" with delight. (Repeat REFRAIN)
10.
Help me plant the garden, Plant it row by row. Help me plant the garden, Watch our garden grow. What shall we plant it the garden? (Sing a new verse for each vegetable suggested)
11.
REFRAIN: Listen to the tropical band, Music of the Caribbean. All the people sing and dance, And they clap their hands, When they listen to the tropical band. Paco plays the cowbell; No one knows just how well. Perhaps we should let the cow tell How Paco plays the cowbell. (Repeat REFRAIN) Maria plays the maracas, She likes to dance to the cha chas. We mustn't let this shock us When Maria plays the maracas. (Repeat REFRAIN) Pedro plays the claves. There's a smile on his face. It never is a dull place When Pedro plays the claves. (Repeat REFRAIN) Jose plays the guiro. His problems they are zero. He's everybody's hero When Jose plays the guiro.(Repeat REFRAIN)
12.
I took an African safari, Had to sell my new Ferrari. Told my girl I'd have to leave her, Caught the Jungle Dancin' fever. Now I'm Jungle Dancin', boppin' with B'wanna, Yeah, I'm Jungle Dancin', rockin' with a rhino. I was lookin' for romance, and then I took a little chance, And now I'm Jungle Dancin'. My girlfriend said it was a bungle When I went down to the jungle. But I showed her she was wrong And now she sings a different song. 'Cause now she's Jungle Dancin', cha cha with a cheetah, Yeah, she's Jungle Dancin', hula with a hippo. She was lookin' for romance, and then she told a little chance And now she's Jungle Dancin'. So if you go down to the Congo, Well, you'd better take a bongo, 'Cause a-sooner or a-later When you get to the equator. You'll be Jungle Dancin', polka with a python. You'll be Jungle Dancin', mambo with a monkey. You'll be looking for romance, and then you'll take a little chance And you'll be Jungle Dancin' Um Gawa!

about

Jerry Way Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin

I've been composing, performing and teaching music for a fair number of years now. I love the pictures that words and music can paint in a person's imagination, while hearing a good song; A guitar is a fine companion for story-sharing. Music is a life-long journey, so the younger we start enjoying it, the better. I'm proud to pass my songs along to new generations. ... more
